Director: Balaji Tharaneetharan
Cast: Vijay Sethupathi, Lijomol Jose, Santhy Balachandran, Vishnu Govindan
Baththa is a highly entertaining blend of fun and emotion. The film rides almost entirely on Vijay Sethupathi, who carries the narrative single-handedly with his effortless and seamless performance.
The biggest highlight is the relationship between the boy and Vijay Sethupathi. Their scenes bring the film its emotional core while also delivering some of its most enjoyable moments.
However, Sai Abhyankkar’s music doesn’t quite fit the film’s mood and fails to complement the tone and treatment of the narrative.
And the film is not entirely crispy entertainment. The narrative was bit slow and the film ended with unsatisfying climax.
Despite that, Baththa remains an enjoyable fun watch, largely powered by Vijay Sethupathi’s performance and the film’s entertaining emotional moments.
