Meesaya Murukku 2 turns out to be a rather lethargic attempt from Hip Hop Tamizha and, unfortunately, comes nowhere close to the freshness and appeal of the part1 in the franchise.
The story revolves around the lives of Chennai gaana artists and their pursuit of making it big in the mainstream music scene. The premise has enough potential to make for an engaging musical drama, but the film struggles to hold on to its core story. The narrative feels stretched, and the progression lacks the energy needed to keep the audience invested.
The biggest saving grace is Hip Hop Tamizha’s music. The songs bring much-needed energy to the film and remain one of its major positives. A few theatrical moments also work really well, giving the film some much-needed highs. Arsath Khan and Yogi B also did their part well.
Overall, Meesaya Murukku 2 has a promising setting and some enjoyable music + Few theatrical moments, but its sluggish storytelling and lack of the charm that made the first part special make it a disappointing sequel.
