Where Part I built the board, Part II moves the pieces with feeling. Nandini's heartbreak becomes the engine of the whole saga, and Mani Ratnam lets the melodrama breathe. The battles are handsome, but it's the close-ups that linger.

Watched this twice in theatres. The interval block alone is worth the ticket.
