A soft-hearted new recruit is posted to a brutal anti-insurgency operation hunting a feared separatist leader in the forests.
Director: Vetrimaaran
Cast: Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre
Vetrimaaran opens on a single unbroken shot of carnage and never lets you look away from the machinery of state violence. Soori, cast against type, is heartbreaking. It's grim, deliberate work that builds toward a sequel you'll need a moment to be ready for.

The performances carry it. That one scene near the end wrecked me.

FilmScore feels about right. Loved the first half, second half dragged.

Watched this twice in theatres. The interval block alone is worth the ticket.
